That’s the view of Line of Duty creator and Manchester United fan Jed Mercuiro who spoke to Jonny Owen and Friends on talkSPORT.
Although Fernandes has quite clearly been United’s best player with 23 goals and 13 assists this season, Mercurio thinks he’s not as flawless as the stats make out.
“I find him a frustrating player to be your favourite,” he told talkSPORT. “Bruno Fernandes is probably one of the most inconsistent players. There’s that saying in golf that there’s no commentary on the scorecard.
“You look at Bruno’s stats and think ‘this guy must be flawless as a player’.
“Then you watch a game and watch him give away possession and argue about nothing, have really good opportunities to play people in and mess it up.
“You just think ‘oh please do it every week’.”
Fernandes will be hoping to add to his statistics this afternoon when Man United face Leicester in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with commentary of the 5pm kick-off live on talkSPORT.
Mercurio, meanwhile, was part of the Line of Duty special on Sunday morning’s Jonny Owen and Friends with his wife, Vicky McClure, co-hosting alongside fellow cast members Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston as special guests.
Dunbar, who plays Hastings, spoke about his love for Arsenal, while Compston, who played Steve Arnott, joined ahead of his beloved Celtic taking on Rangers.
